A Flourishing ScourgeA FLOURISHING SCOURGE – www.aflourishingscourge.com

A Flourishing Scourge is an all-original extreme progressive metal outfit hailing from the gloomy metropolis of Seattle, Washington. Inspired by a degrading society and the destructive negligence of man, AFS is a pummeling force of misanthropic visions and apocalyptic consequences while still finding rare, intimate moments of solace and hope amidst the carnage.

AFS began in 2013 under the original moniker Begotten, when Tye Jones and Josh Keifer discovered a shared taste in musical expression. They quickly began writing and recording demo material and were soon ready to seek out other members. Kevin Carbrey joined in 2014 and the band officially became A Flourishing Scourge. By 2015 Andrew Dennis completed the lineup and the band began establishing itself in the Seattle scene.

The band’s first EP, As Beauty Fades Away, was released in September 2015 on their own independent label, Begotten Records. The EP consists of the band’s four original demo tracks, re-recorded and performed by its full lineup.

In June of 2016, following the departure of original drummer Josh Keifer, the band entered Gojira’s Silver Cord Studio to record their full-length, eponymous debut “A Flourishing Scourge.” Engineered and mixed by Jamie Uertz (Gojira, Anthrax), the album features 8 original songs with drums recorded by Samus Paulicelli (Decrepit Birth, Former Abigail Williams).   The album was mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Amon Amarth) of Fascination Street Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, and will again be released on the band’s own imprint, Begotten Records, on June 9, 2017.

Arcadea_Jenny-Bishop-2ARCADEA – www.arcadearocks.com

5 billion years after the last great extinction, the galaxy Andromeda spins headlong into the Milky Way with three intergalactic travelers in tow. Drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor (Mastodon), Guitarist/keyboardist Core Atoms (Zruda, Gaylord) and Keyboardist/guitarist Raheem Amlani (Withered, Scarab) are said pioneers, the space wizards of psychedelic soundscapes where organic drums collide with synthetic keys to create an infinite transmission from an event horizon. They go by ARCADEA and their otherworldly brand of psyche-electric, synth-driven, metallic madness sounds alien yet somehow familiar. ARCADEA’s visionary, self-produced, self-titled debut was mastered by Colin Leonard (Mastodon) and features stunning cover art from renowned sci-fi fantasy artist Essy May.

Debut Self-Titled LP is available at the Relapse Records Store!

Desensitized 2017 SDMDESENSITIZED – www.facebook.com/Desensitizedmetal

Rob Riggs and Jeff Faris(from Kill the Messenger) responded to a posting that Troy Moses(Down Pour) and Jeff Sibert were looking for bass and vocals for an original band in the vein of Slayer, Godsmack and Disturbed. After the first practice, everyone knew this was definitely going to be heavier and more brutal than Godsmack or Disturbed. We got the ball rolling with Toll and Authority.

After 4 months Jeff Faris was pulled away from vocal duties due to accepting a killer job that was unfortunately on 3rd shift. We looked for a vocalist for several months, but no one could come close to touching the vocal ability of Rob Riggs who was covering back up vocal duties. By default, and preference of Troy and Jeff, Rob assumed vox responsibilities and we again started moving ahead.

In a year’s time, we had expanded our set list to 4 completed songs and 2 or 3 in development. Since we did not have a full set to start booking shows we worked on tightening up the 4 completed tunes and focused a lot of energy into completing the others to give us an 8 song set list. We debuted our material at a party Jeff threw at his pad in October of 2010. Giving our friends and coworkers a little taste of what Desensitized was bringing to the plate. Everyone liked what they heard and encouraged us to keep at it, while also providing some valuable constructive criticism to assist us in polishing up some of the songs. We had made an attempt to host our first show, that would be all ages, at a little place called Ava’s Pub in the Spring of 2011. Misfortune struck upon our first hosting endeavor when we arrived to start setting up, the bar owner informs us that there will not be an all ages event. Show number one flushed down the toilet. Back to the basement for another bout of songwriting and plotting to take over the world. Or at least when we want to book another show. We got that opportunity in the fall of 2011 when we were invited to perform at the Okeana Metalfest XIV. We seared a few faces and blew a few minds. All in all, we were widely accepted and received compliments after the performance. This got the ball rolling, we tasted blood again, or at least the rush of performing live! We reconvened and decided we needed to start getting some shows booked. Voila! We set up our second first show at Another Bar, in Cleves OH.

As fate would have it, or at least some more bad luck, one of the bands canceled off the bill, and they were the only other band. This time, we said f*%& it. The show must go on! We were preparing to be the only entertainment for the evening when I was approached by Jeff Sibert’s brother, Craig. He told me that he had a band and if we were cool with it, they would like to open for Desensitized.  Craig rallied his troops and threw down!  The show went on!

Since then we have played several shows around Northern Kentucky and south-west Ohio.  We have a portfolio of 10 completed songs, 2 more need polishing and 4 on the table to complete.  We released a 4 song EP named The Purge in Fall of 2015.  We are anticipating the release of a full length in Spring 2018.

Dying-Fetus_John-SiskDYING FETUS – https://www.facebook.com/DyingFetus

On June 19th 2012, Dying Fetus took their biggest leap yet, with their earth-shattering album Reign Supreme. Long-term fans rejoiced at the band’s consistency and critics lauded the band’s unparalleled musicianship, with Heavymetal.about.com raving that “Dying Fetus are at the top of their game with this record, which is sure to thrill old fans and gain, and even more, new ones.” With Reign Supreme, arguably their heaviest release yet, it is clear why the band has been hailed as “one of the most dominating forces in death metal,” and why they were booked to play the UK’s infamous Download Festival almost purely on a fan campaign via Facebook and Twitter. Anything less than total supremacy is simply not an option for this band.

Now in 2017, Dying Fetus once again raise the bar of sonic extremity with their 8th studio album and first new material in over 5 years, Wrong One To Fuck With. The seasoned veterans manage to further stretch their creative and technical boundaries across 10 complex tracks of pulverizing death metal, filled with more dynamic intricacies, brutal breakdowns and varied vocal patterns than ever before. Now over 25 years into their distinguished career, Dying Fetus cement their legacy with Wrong One To Fuck With and uphold their position as the most dominant force in death metal today.

Dying Fetus Is:

John Gallagher: Guitar, Vocals

Sean Beasley: Bass, Vocals

Trey Williams: Drums

Incantation_Scott-KinkadeINCANTATION – https://www.incantation.com/

With over a quarter-century under their bullet-adorned belts, Incantation main-man John McEntee, and longtime drummer Kyle Severn have proven that age is certainly not a predetermining factor as it relates to brutality and longevity. Throughout these formative years, Incantation continued to spread their demonic reign, releasing three more unholy testaments with Relapse including Diabolical Conquest (1998), Mortal Throne of Nazarene(1994) and The Infernal Storm (2000). The next decade-plus saw the band expand their blasphemous empire, releasing several full-lengths with notable metal-centric labels Candlelight and Listenable Records.

Approaching the latter half of 2017, Incantation is set to prove – once again – that their vertigo-inducing, ever-spiraling blackened mass of death metal malevolence is as expansive, infinite and bleak as the coldest, darkest reaches of our universe. At the pinnacle of their storied career, the guys have engineered a brand new weapon of anti-biblical proportions. This weapon, entitled Profane Nexus, comes armed with eleven tracks of musical antipathy, impregnated with the band’s inherent, unrivaled, visual and lyrical depravity.

Recorded at the band’s own Incantation Studios in Johnstown, PA and mixed/mastered by Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Asphyx, Dark Funeral), Profane Nexus is perhaps the finest example of pummeling death metal and disemboweling funeral doom ever conceived.
