NAMM 2019 – TAMA Introduces New Limited-Edition S.L.P Big Black Steel Drum Kit. Tama’s concept for the S.L.P. (Sound Lab Project) series is to actively develop cutting-edge drums that push the creative envelope, while also making sure they remain accessible to the widest possible range of players. Many drums in this series are the result of exploring and challenging conventional drum design. For the newest S.L.P. kit, modern tone and huge sound were the project objectives.
The core of the S.L.P. Big Black Steel kit’s encompassing sound is 1 mm thick steel shells. The steel shells cast off a powerful tone that will keep up with the loudest bands. Along with unencumbered projection, the sound is surprisingly warm and has excellent tonal balance across the entire spectrum. The dynamics are also easily controllable which means the S.L.P. Big Black Steel kit can thrive in an assortment of musical settings. The robust sound is further complemented by 2.3mm Steel Mighty Hoops, and the Starclassic lugs take up minimal space on the shell surface allowing for optimal resonance and volume. The shell hardware is finished in Black Nickel capping off the kit’s dark, industrial, and modern look. One HTS58F THE CLASSIC Tom Stand is also included.
The S.L.P Big Black Steel kit furthers the continuing mission of the Sound Lab Project series to experiment with new and unusual shell materials to provide drummers the most compelling and unique kits on the market today.
