Chris Faith Interview:
SD.com: How old were you when you started playing?
Chris: I was about 11 yrs old when I started playing on the electric drum sets at the music store down the road.
SD.com: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?
Chris: Not really. I had my own marching snare but I did that on my own time.
SD.com: Ever take any lessons?
Chris: I didnt take lessons officially. they were more like advice sessions from veteran drummers. But no, I didnt take actual “lessons”
SD.com: Who are your top 5 influences?
Chris: Thomas Lang, Derek Roddy (of course), Hannes Grossman, Nick Barker, and Inferno
SD.com: Assuming that influences doesn’t mean favorites, who are your favorites?
Chris: Thomas Lang, Zach Gibson, Steve Gadd, Flo Mounier, Pete Sandoval
SD.com: Let us know 5 CD’s that are in your current rotation
Chris: Necrophagist “Onset Of Putrefaction”, Augury “Concealed”, Hate Eternal “I Monarch”, Emeth “Reticulated”, Behemoth “Demigod”
SD.com: Can you remember a night you think was your best playing ever? If yes, when and where?
Chris: Not in particular considering I try to play my best constantly. So not really, but wherever I play at an open Venue I seem to do a little better then in closed ones.
SD.com: Do you have a favorite brand of drums or cymbals?
Chris: I Strictly use Pearl EX Drums, and Sabian Cymbals
SD.com: Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Chris: Not religiously but I ussually sit behind the stage quietly and go over Thomas Lange’s speed exercises.
SD.com: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be…
Chris: Learn to do stuff correctly early. If you develop a bad habit of doing something incorrectly early on, It will make it very hard to change in the future so learn everything correctly in the beginning.
SD.com: Who gave the best live performance you’ve ever seen?
Chris: Has to be The Black Dahlia Murder. They put on such a great live show it’s insane. Id strongly advise everyone to see them.
SD.com: If you had to stop drumming, what would you want to do with your life?
Chris: Prolly go to Tech school and become an Underwater welder. That was the original plan.
