Hannes Nysten

Hannes Nysten: I was born in Trollhättan, Sweden. I was first introduced to a drumkit then i was around 10 years old. My father who`s a guitarist rehersed with his band at home, so we had this 5 piece tama rockstar in our garage. I couldn’t play for a shit, but me and my freinds had a great time playing! 5 years later, my freind sent me some videos of Derek Roddy and i was blown away. I wasn`t into extreme metal at that time, but that was the thing that made me interested in drums again, and more extreme metal. At the age of 16 i bought myself a crappy kit and started to play. Now, I play in 3 bands and that`s what my sparetime, or life is dedicated to.

Hannes Nysten Interview:

SD.com: How old were you when you started playing?

Hannes: I was 16 years old when i started to drum and practice on a daily basis, i had been drumming before that, but it wasn`t serious.

SD.com: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?

Hannes: No, i never had that chance in school. We had 1 hour / week with music lessions  that were shit, so no drumming in school.

SD.com: Ever take any lessons?

Hannes: Yes, just a few times, but i`m looking for a full time teacher.

SD.com: Who are your top 5 influences?

SD.com: If you could give one piece of advice to younger drummers, it would be…

Hannes: Hehe, i`m not that old myself, but a great tip to anyone is to get in a band! You`ll learn a lot by just playing with other people. And push yourself!
