Danny Terchin

My name is Daniel Terchin I was born in Chicago grew up in 2 northwest suburbs Buffalo Grove and Long Grove. I am the youngest of 5 kids the oldest being 26. Drumming has been a passion of mine since i was about 10 years old I looked up to my brother, Brian who influenced me to start playing and practicing a lot. I have drummed from punk rock/ska/hardcore bands to death metal/metal core bands. I have gone through 3 different drum teachers while i was between the ages 10-15. I plan on taking lessons in the future when I have free time just to learn more. Drumming is the way I let all of my feelings and frustraions out. Its always fun to learn new things whether it’s a fill or messing with different patterns. It has been my favorite thing to do for a long time and I learn something new every time i play and its a wonderful feeling

SD.com: Do you read music? Regardless of answering yes or no, please tell us how it might have effected your playing?

Danny: When I had teachers I did, but unfortunately I haven’t had a teacher in a few years, so I forgot how to read haha hense why I want to go back and take lessons when I have free time on my hands. when I did read music I practice very odd off timing beats and I sometimes add that skill into our music. so I would say learning and reading  weird time measures helped a lot.
