Sick Drummer Magazine – Favorite Drumming Albums of 2024

joshua-ward-rip-sdm-2025On New Year’s Eve 2024, we tragically lost Joshua Nassaru Ward of Voraath, along with his fiancee’ and two other friends, when struck by a drunk driver. We’ve been friends with Joshua for many years… He was an amazing Father, friend, drummer, musician, visual artist, composer, and human being. Our love and light go out to all suffering from this senseless tragedy. Hug your loved ones, and don’t EVER drink and drive…

Rest in Power, dear friend… We love and miss you.

Sick Drummer Magazine’s Favorite Drumming Albums of 2024! Our team has gone back and forth and has decided on these releases. They are NOT in any particular order of most to least or least to most favorite. Just a list alphabetized by the drummer’s first name… There is no best album or drummer; it is just what our team enjoyed collectively.

When compiling our lists, our team considers creativity, groove, originality, musicality, finesse, speed, technicality, and a few other factors. We apologize in advance to those we may not have heard… or overlooked. It’s been another crazy year!

Ian Macdonald, Anton Hefele, Jeff Grindstopher, Jeanne Thomas, and Tomasz Pilasiewicz of Gorgasm reviewed and selected these albums.

Let’s all show our appreciation for the outstanding performances of these drummers. We are honored and excited to have these records to listen to and learn from. Please share the links to your favorites, and if you can, purchase some records and/or merchandise from these artists. Every little bit helps.

This is the 6th consecutive year Adam Jarvis and Lee Fisher have made this list. If you don’t know, now you know. That’s pretty insane. This year also features Marco Pitruzzella on two different releases and Robin Stone on four! The releases from Adam Jarvis and KC Howard are 2025 releases, but we wanted to help promote them early… Go and grab them when available!

Thanks to all these Sick Drummers for creating amazing works we can enjoy, learn from, and share!
