The UK’s melodic death metal titans Viatrophy have released a brand new track ‘Mistress Of Misery’ from their eagerly anticipated self-titled debut album. The band – who pride themselves on a progressive blend of brutally heavy, beautifully composed ambience and a blisteringly destructive live show – spent the first half of 2009 recording the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Chronicles’ EP with acclaimed producers WellerHill (SiKth, Enter Shikari) at Fortress Studios in London.
The band said this of the album: “We’ve changed a lot since ‘Chronicles’. The sound is still the same but we’ve got a whole load more progressive on the full length. There are some tracks of straight up brutality and then some that sound like they could be from a film score. There’s even a seven minute quasi-instrumental track. We stepped it up musically and technically and we’ve made something we’re all super proud of.”
The album hits UK shelves on June 15th via Siege of Amida Records, and the US release follows on August 4th via Candlelight.
