We asked guitarist, Brandon Scurlark a few quick questions about the transition from working with Daniel Cece to working with Nate. Here’s what he had to say.

SDM: How long have you known Nate and how long has he been working with the band?

Brandon: We all officially met Nate around a year ago but we’ve known about him for a few years through mutual friends in the area. Nate has only been with us for a couple of months now, but he started performing with us early this year when took the reins on drum recording for our upcoming record.

SDM: How long was Daniel Cece in the band prior to his departure?

Brandon: Dan has been with us since the very beginning so he’s been active for the better part of 6 years!

SDM: How has it been different working with Nate, versus how you worked/composed with Daniel?

Brandon: Both guys are extremely talented and have their own unique playing styles. To be honest I was a bit worried when Dan stepped down because there are not too many people who possess that kind of skill set where we’re from. It was such a huge relief to find someone like Nate who could offer something unique to the Krosis formula and carry on from the standard that Dan had left behind. I’m looking forward to how Nate affects our sound from here on out!

SDM: What do you think Nate brings to the table that you’re excited about?

Brandon: I’ve managed to study his approach to playing for a few months and if there’s one thing I’ll say it’s that this man is extremely versatile and precise. He executes complex sections with so much finesse and consistency that it wouldn’t make a difference whether we threw something tame or extreme at him. That kind of mastery is going to allow us to really expand our creative potential with Nate at the helm of percussion.

SDM: What can we expect next from Krosis?

Brandon: There’s a ton of stuff for us on the horizon, but you can definitely expect us to continue nurturing the traditional Krosis sound as well as introducing new styles and techniques to the mix. These next few chapters of Krosis will be an important representation of growth as we come into our own.

About Krosis:

Modern music has generally followed a one-dimensional approach to composition and consumption. As genres lend themselves toward static creations and repetitive tendencies, we strive to break up the monotonous nature of stereotypical deathcore and death metal tropes.

Krosis is an amalgamation of aggressive music, ambient soundscapes, and chaotic fits of unpredictability and resolution. Birthed from backgrounds of jazz, metal, classical, and electronic infusions, Krosis sets its sights on exploring both complex instrumentation and introspective lyrical concepts.
