So we are into day 2 of Sessions here at Indian Trails Studio with Engineer & Co-owner Alex Gerst. So far it's going great! Alex is a drummer himself so he really understands the approach that is involved in the Aghora stuff. I highly recommend Alex and his studio to any drummer. Great "live" room, great gear and a great vibe.
Matt is amazing! He is very smooth, yet razor accurate with a lot of balls! It's good to have the metal muscle power, yet the fusion open air and breath of a Vinnie Colaiuta, Jack DeJohnette & Billy Cobham. Matt has 100% free control over his domain. His intuition has been very accurate with the visions we had imagined before coming to record drums. He flows very smoothly, yet with a lot of power when needed. In my opinion he is the perfect fit for Aghora. He is eating the time signatures, polyrhythms and epic long songs for lunch! It's simply amazing what one can do with a 5 piece kit. The "less is more" makes perfect sense after watching him track. (he has given me goose bumps a few times now). We have 10 songs total on this new album, 3 are solid and done… It's very exciting…
