Lee Stanton – Thy Art Is Murder – Dead Sun – Exclusive Drum Play-Through

Sean and I started Thy Art Is Murder in 2006 when I was 16, which was also when I started playing drums. I realized I sucked at trying to learn guitar, so I picked up a pair of sticks and started bashing some tubs. I don't have one favorite drummer, I do my best to listen to as many different styles as possible. Some of them are Paule Seidel, Benny Greb, Billy Rymer, George Kollias and Alex Rudinger. I could sit here all day and name drummers I enjoy listening to.

I currently endorse Mapex drums, Los Cabos sticks and Istanbul cymbals. I've been trying out different companies and gear for a while now and these are the ones that appeal to me the most. I couldn't be happier about how my current set up sounds and looks.

Since the release of Thy Art Is Murder’s second full length album, Hate, in Australia on October 19 2012, the band have since signed a worldwide deal with metal powerhouse Nuclear Blast (who released Hate in the rest of the world in April 2013) and have been nominated for a Metal Hammer Golden God for Best Newcomer. They have also been nominated for Best Hard Rock / Metal album in the ARIAs, Australia’s equivalent of the Grammy's.

The band have toured non-stop since the release of Hate, completing headline runs of Australia, UK and Europe in addition to stints on the 2013 Summer Slaughter alongside The Dillinger Escape Plan and Animals As Leaders, appearances at the Big Day Out, Graspop Metal Meet in Belgium and Germany’s With Full Force.

In a few weeks the band kick off their second American tour, headlining the Hate Across America tour with support from I Declare War, Fit For An Autopsy and more. From there they head back to Europe and the UK for another headlining run, then it’s back to Australia to take part in the nation-wide Soundwave Festival alongside Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice In Chains and Korn.
