Aaron Stechauner started playing drums in 2005 when he was 10-years-old. Over the years Aaron has had a multitude of teachers, both drummers percussionists, and non-drummers. Between Middle School, Marina High School (Performing Arts), and attending the State University at Long Beach, his primary focus was on jazz and its subcategories, as well as pop-culture music and some classical percussion. Starting at around his Junior year of High School he started playing in bands of his own, usually in the Rock/Metal and Progressive realms.
Aaron played in a good number of bands/groups before joining Rings of Saturn, and he continues to do fill-in work, session gigs, and writing/recording with bands like Abiotic, The Faceless, Aenimus, among others. Aaron currently plays with Interloper and Brazen Tide, as well as teaches students both on and off the road. Some of his favorite bands include Opeth, The Faceless, Animals as Leaders, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.
Our own Jeanne Thomas recently sat down with Aaron to talk about Interloper, among other things… Here’s what Aaron had to say.
