Keep up with Codi here:
I started playing for the sole porpose of making music, not impressing anyone, not trying to “score”. I was extemly dedicated and I couldn’t spend one day without playing my drums and listening to the best drum track i thought of at the time. I had been playing for a year before i got my first double kick. I really sucked at it too. After a year and a half, my best friend Mike and I met a dude named Casey who introduced me to grind and hardcore like Dillinger, Origin, and Converge. Instantly I was in love. Ever since then it was 90 minutes a day sit on thy throne, annoying all the neighbors (and my parents) working on blast beats and developing my own style. I still play everyday would not give it up for anything.
To me, negative input really helped me along. Ya, i cried at night, haha. It just made me want to get better and prove people wrong. Still, I could help but want to improve and learn new things. To this day, i still love jamming with any drummer that plays music of any kind. I always have a
drive to learn new stuff.
