Navene plays in Animosity, a deathcore band from San Francisco, California. They released their debut album, Shut It Down on Tribunal Records in 2003, when the members of the band ranged from ages 16-17. In 2005, they released their second disc Empires on Metal Blade imprint Black Market Activities and toured the United States with Origin and Malevolent Creation. They were previously on tour with Ed Gein and The Number Twelve Looks Like You. They went on tour Unearth, Bleeding Through, Terror, and Through the Eyes of the Dead, which started on September 7, 2006 and ended on September 30, 2006. Their new album, Animal, will be produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge and released on October 2nd, 2007. They were on The Brutalitour 2007 with As Blood Runs Black, The Faceless, and Beneath The Massacre

SD.com: How old were you when you started playing?
Navene: I started to play when I was 11
SD.com: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?
Navene: I played in Jazz band at a high school that I didn’t attend
SD.com: Ever take any lessons?
Navene: nope…my dad taught me how to play a beat
SD.com: Who are your top 5 influences?
Navene: Tim Alexander, Joey Jordison, Kevin Talley, John Longstreth, Terry Bozio
SD.com: Assuming that influences doesn’t mean favorites, who are your favorites?
Navene: Morgen Agren, Zach Hill, Chipendale (lightning bolt), Christian Vander

Navene: meshuggah – re-nothing.. Beneath the Massacre – Mechanics of Dysfunction.. Allan holdsworth – secrets .. i dont know animositys recoding right now so i don’t have that much time to listen to much music
SD.com: Do you have a favorite brand of drums or cymbals?
Navene: I play random drums and Alchemy/Istanbul cymbals
SD.com: Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Navene: I usually walk around the show s\…and then I just play. Every once and a while I will find someone to nerd out with and jam in a basement or back room
SD.com: If you could give one piece of advice to younger drummers, it would be…
Navene: you can do whatever you want on drums.. theres no standard.
SD.com: Who gave the best live performance you’ve ever seen?
Navene: Hella on the Dillenger Escape Plan tour, Decrepit Birth house show on New Years Eve 2004, I have seen a lot of great shows…
SD.com: If you had to stop drumming, what else would you want to do with your life?
Navene: Play guitar and compose and record music
