Interview with Nefastus – September 2009

SDM: What is the current situation between you and Belphegor?

Tomasz: We’re still friends. I’m available for anything like studio or live situations — if our schedules go along with each other’s.  We keep contact and know future plans, so if there’s any need for myself and there’s time for it, I’ll be there!

SDM: How did you manage to get back into the studio to record the new record?

Tomasz: We know our skills and know how to work together the most efficient way with the best result, and as I said before — we keep contact all the time and when there’s need for me, I’ll always be there, so it’s been a really cool thing to get together again, also with producer Andy Classen who did his best for that record.  It’s like an old team coming together again.  I felt really excited during that time, and I think we can be really proud of the result!

SDM: How do you feel the band has progressed since you last did drums with them, and how has your drumming progressed since then?

Tomasz: I think every musician who takes it seriously to record the best music has that fuel to improve his personal skills as much as possible, be it learning new techniques, other equipment, or improvements in speed.  We all perfected our skills, got our new instruments and stuff, got along with it, and know how to produce our optimal sound on recordings.  I know Helmuth is always looking for new tunings, he’s into trying out new scales and techniques, also amplifiers and guitars — for myself, I’m also looking for anything new what could improve my sound and playing, and I’m absolutely into speed drumming.  If I imagine myself knowing about today ten years ago, I wouldn’t believe it.

SDM: Will we ever see you tour with Belphegor?

Tomasz: If we find some compatible dates, you definitely will!

SDM: What band is your main priority right now?

Tomasz: I’m doing session jobs mainly, for Fleshcrawl and Debauchery for studio and live-drumming, but my main band is called Disinfect, and we play some brutal death metal!
