Gabe Seeber

Keep up with Gabe here:

I started playing drums at about 14 years old. A friend of mine started playing guitar at the same time and we formed a Carcass/Impaled influenced band, Wretched Dawn. That was together from 2007-2009. When we broke up I joined The Kennedy Veil. (Early 2009-Present) I have been doing session/live drumming for a band Perception recently and I want to get more into session drumming for bands, just waiting til my name is out there a bit more!

Gabe Seeber Interview:

SDM: How old were you when you started playing?

Gabe: I was probably about 14 years old. Going into my freshman year of high school.

SDM: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?

Gabe: No. If my school was able to afford decent equipment and teachers who knew what they were talking about I would have done it. Our music program was awful.

SDM: Who are your top 5 metal influences?

Gabe: Dave Haley (Psycroptic), George Kollias (NILE), Jerry (Pitbulls in the Nursery), Max Grahn (The Shattering), John Longstreth (ORIGIN)

SDM: Who are some other of your favorites?

Gabe: Flo Mounier, Nick Barker, Derek Roddy, Yanic Bercier, Vitek, Tony Royster JR, Marco Minneman

SDM: Let us know 5 CD's that are in your current rotation

Gabe: The Shattering and Pitbulls in the Nursery never get old. Spawn of Possession – both albums. Decrepit Birth's Polarity album and Odious Mortem's Fragmented Oblivion.

SDM: What do you do to warm up before a show?

Gabe: I'm not very good about warming up, but if I have the time I'll do some stretches and pushups. I try to find time to at least do some hand and foot exercises before going on.

SDM: Do you read music? Regardless of answering yes or no, please tell us how it might have effected your playing?

Gabe: I can a little, but not much. I'd like to get some lessons to learn to read better.

SDM: Can you tell us about the gear you use?

Gabe: I have the Ddrum Defiant 7 piece kit. DW5000 pedals. Sabian cymbals (slowly upgrading to soultone). I always use Vic Firth sticks and go between Remo and Evans heads.

SDM: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be…

Gabe: I have nothing original, just PRACTICE! Practice all styles of music, don't try and blast at 260 from day one. Start slow and learn the rudiments and basics to drumming, everything will fall into place eventually. Find your own style and keep playing!

SDM: Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen?

Gabe: Either Kollias or Longstreth. Both were absolutely amazing to watch.

SDM: Aside from drumming, what else do you like to do?

Gabe: What else is there??? I like bowling.
