My full name is Auliya Akbar and I was born on December 16, 1991 and I live in jakarta, Indonesia. I started to play drums when I was 12, after seeing Joey Jordison playing on his drumset. It made me want to follow in his footsteps, and become a metal drummer! yeah! \m/. After that I joined to a music schooland learned some basic stuff there. After several months, I decided to quit because I had internal problems. So I just practiced from youtube and learned about many metal techniques. I think youtube is a great teacher for everyone hehe… I learned a lot from there. I have a band called REVENGE, that was formed in 2007, when we were all 14. We launched our first album in 2008 when we were still in High School. The album name is global.suffering.disease.

SDM: How old were you when you started playing?
Akbar: I got my first kit when I was 12, I got rolling's standard drum set from my Dad for my birthday.
SDM: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?
Akbar: yes, in my high school percussion team, just for fun hehe.
SDM: Who are your top 5 metal influences?
Akbar: joey jordison, george kollias, pete sandoval, john longstreth and hannes grossmann.
SDM: Who are some other of your favorites?
Akbar: hmmm… maybe indonesian metal drummers like prame jange of SIKSA KUBUR, andyan gorust of DEADSQUAD, and my teacher al of PURGATORY, they give me much inspiration.
SDM: Let us know 5 CD's that are in your current rotation
Akbar: origin-antithesis, nile- those whom the gods detest, misery index-heirs to thievery, siksa kubur-tentara merah darah, deadsquad-horror vision.
SDM: What do you do to warm up before a show?
Akbar: do some basic stuff like single stroke, double stroke, paradidle about 15 minutes, play my own songs on my pad and take a deep breath as much as I can.
SDM: Do you read music? Regardless of answering yes or no, please tell us how it might have effected your playing?
Akbar: sometimes, just when I'm on my high school percussion team and its not effected my playing
SDM: Can you tell us about the gear you use?
Akbar: now I'm using pearl reference, pearl virgil donati's signature snare, zildjian cymbals and also vater stick, but I'd like to be sponsored hehe because its so expensive in indonesia
SDM: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be…
Akbar: practice, practice, and practice, you have to work hard to get what you want.
SDM: Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen?
Akbar: prama jange and john longstreth (but only in youtube hehe, I've never seen origin in person)
SDM: Aside from drumming, what else do you like to do?
Akbar: maybe eat and sleep, its a good way to relax your mind
