This video tribute to Jeff Hanneman was something Anton was able to put together after meeting with the GoPro Camera staff and seeing their booth on the first day of the show. We had a great time meeting and talking with them and would again like to thank them for their cooperation.
Here you will see Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Burning Human) on drums, Derek Roddy (Serpent’s Rise, ex: Hate Eternal, ex: Malevolent Creation) on guitar and Gus Rios (Malevolent Creation, Upon Infliction) on guitar as well. The guys literally heard our idea and talked about what to play on the way over to the booth. No practice, no adjusting the gear, just sitting down and jamming out ‘Angel of Death‘ by Slayer. The sound inside the booth was absolutely amazing, raw, filthy and heavy. Thanks to the guys for meeting up with SDM for this unique, and very fun experience.
Jut so happens that Gus and I were both wearing a Hanneman tribute shirt on the same day, which has come to be bittersweet, after now knowing there was no mention of Jeff Hanneman during the Grammy Awards in their “In Memoriam” segment. This video goes out to the memory of Jeff, and to all his family and friends.
Keep up with the guys here:
