One of the most unique things at the 2012 NAMM show in Anaheim, California, was from the South Florida based Molecules Drums Company. These acrylic drums produce a very different sound, which many have been raving about, especially in a studio setting. They are all one-piece with no vent holes, except for the two-piece kick drum, which does have a vent. Despite their abnormal appearance and dimensions, we were advised that they will fit into standard cases.
The sound (no pun) was very round! Designer and President Rob Lerner will tell you that because of the extra space inside the drum for the sound to resinate, they create a bigger sound that projects with ease. We would agree and tell you the sound was loud and full, yet very warm.
We posted this video from the show on January 20, 2012 and are very pleased with the amount of views it has reached in a very short time, nearly 7,000 to date. This is far more views than any other video we have seen posted yet and accurately reflective of what our YouTube channel has, and continues to produce.
