From Columbia, Missouri, Shea “Thundercat” Spence (age 32) started playing drums at age 10. She has many influences, ranging from The Gap Band, Tears for Fears, Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, and many more. Shea brings a powerful and energetic performance, along with delicate finesse. “I really enjoy the rush I get from bashing my kit as hard as possible, but also finding those moments to stretch into different dynamics and incorporate diverse styles into my playing.” Shea has been with her current project, The Many Colored Death, for over 12 years and has shared the stage with hard rock acts Chevelle, Pop Evil, Helmet, Radkey, and Local H.
The Many Colored Death is an alt-rock trio based in Columbia, Missouri. Formed in 2010, the band has internalized the aesthetic and influence of acts such as Soundgarden, King’s X, Rush, and Foo Fighters, then spun those elements out into a fresh new style. While the diversity and musicality of the band are showcased in their recorded works, the band truly shines in the live setting. Described by one fan as a “silky mixture of 70’s rock and early 90’s grunge”, their energy and musical ferocity are on full display on any stage.
