AGAINST THE PLAGUES – www.facebook.com/pages/Against-the-Plagues/138370759528952
Against The Plagues is a extreme metal act based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 2005 when two musicians from the black metal group Forest of Impaled – Varyen od drums and Adrian Adamus on guitar, decided to to create their own project.
They started working under the name “Against” but after few months extended it to Against The Plagues. Originally starting as a “project”, they hired Swedish musician and producer Wojtek Lisicki (Lost Horizon,Luciferion) to help with arrangements and production of the first album. However, after a few months of cooperation the “project” turned in to a full time, active band with Lisicki becoming a full fledged member and shortly before entering the studio, Orlando Logan Perez (ex VEX) joined the band as their singer and bassist to round out the lineup.
In 2007 , the band signed distribution deals with Century Media Records in U.S. and Plastic Head in Europe and released their debiut album “Architecture of Oppression” .
Against The Plagues received outstanding reviews in popular metal magazines like : BW&BK , Metal Rules, Metal Hammer, Lords of Metal, Metal Maniacs, Masterful magazine.
In 2010, Against The Plagues signed a deal with Dutch label – Vic Records, at which point, “Architecture of Oppression” was re-mixed and re-mastered by legendary producer Dan Swano (Katatonia/Marduk/Dark Funeral/Edge of Sanity) and re-released in Europe under the new title “Decoding the Mainframe”. Shortly after “Decoding the Mainframe” came out, guitarist Adrian Adamus left the band and was replaced by Marco Martell (ex Malevolent Creation). Just short time later , in March 2010 , Against The Plagues released their first official video for the track “Great are the Eyed” which was shot in Miami, FL. In late fall 2010 the band returned to the studio and recorded 4 new songs for mini album called “The Quaternion”. Finally “The Quaternion” was self released on December 21st 2012.
Against The Plagues immidiately hit the road in U.S. to promote “The Quaternion” in 2013. In March 2013 Milo Kovacevic (ex Kommandant/Ezurate) joined the band as a new bass guitarist. In June 2013 after first leg of promotional shows in United States the band parted ways with singer Logan Perez. Perez was replaced by vocalist Shaun Albro (ApotheCarrion/Ebonmortis).

ANAKRONIS – www.anakronis.bandcamp.com
Calgary, AB, Canada based technical death metal act Anakronis was formed by guitarist Brian Gillingham. drummer Tod Quinlan, and bassist Denver Bergreen in early 2010, with the aim to make absurdly complex death metal, laced with chaotic, dissonant hooks. After two-and-a-half years of writing and refining, the goal was recently realized with the release of the “Regression EP” in September 2013 to much positive critical response.
The inital move to venture forth from their cozy Canadian basement happened in 2010 with the release of an instrumental version of “Enslave the Willing”, in the hopes of aquiring a vocalist capable of handling the band’s breakneck and crushing approach to technical death metal. Soon after, Diaro Irvine, a musician local to the Calgary area, stepped up to the mic and launched the band into the local death metal scene. The bands lineup was solidified, and the musical foursome was complete with lyrical themes ranging from philosophy, psychology to scientific and even political.
Throughout 2011/2012, the band developed their sound and attack, writing what was to become ‘Regression’, an ambitious 5 track EP filled to the brim with riffs and ideas, all striving for an immense sound coupled with technical insanity.

FROM THE EYES OF ERRA – www.fteoe.com
We are From the Eyes of Erra, a five piece progressive deathcore band from Dyersburg, TN. Our music consists of intricate guitar work and extreme drumming combined with brutal vocals. Our songs offer an intensity melted with melody known for embedding themselves in your memory. We take immense pride in giving a memorable live performance. You can expect to witness furious action along with proper execution of the music. Get ready to have a sweaty shirt, sore neck and shortness of breath!
FTEOE was started in June of 2011. We began writing and after a few months, our first (self titled) EP was complete. Word began getting around and we were getting positive feedback.
Here’s a review from livefreerockhard.blogspot.com: “Metal heads are always in a constant debate over what genre of metal a certain band fits in. Here to bridge the gap between hardcore and death metal music is From the Eyes of Erra! This Tennessee metal band takes the high points of death metal music and hardcore music and produces a kick ass style! Who knew heavy could also be melodic!? The music produced by From the Eyes of Erra is full of energy, wicked vocals, and insane riffs. The energy and passion for music is at the forefront of their recordings and live performances. There is a spark behind this madness that no finger can point out, but any ear can recognize! This is a heavy metal band you DO NOT want to miss out on!”
We immediately began playing as many shows as we could and have shared the stage with national acts such as A Plea for Purging, Battlecross, Godforbid and Icon and Anchor. We learned about giving a truly professional performance both on and off stage from bands like these. The hunger to write soon came over us and in the fall of 2012 we moved to seven string guitars and took a more meticulous approach to song writing, which birthed our second and current EP “Chosen.” We are currently playing out vigorously in support of Chosen.
We made a huge jump in the quality of song writing on Chosen, but will never be satisfied. We will always strive to improve in every aspect of being musicians. We have already begun writing new material, and yet again improving our song writing. The next record will consist of a more progressive song structures while maintaining a melodic “catchyness.” We set our goals high and understand that only through intense work ethic and perseverance they’ll be reached. We intend to make this band a force to be reckoned with in the metal music scene.

INFERI – www.facebook.com/Inferimetal
Inferi is an American melodic death metal band forged from the bowels of Nashville, Tennessee. The band formed in 2006 and strived to merge the classic melodic metal sound with a taste of crushing technicality. After releasing Divinity in War in 2007 and The End of an Era in 2009, they experienced an overwhelming ripple of hardships, causing the band to lay dormant in an unforeseen state of hibernation.
In 2011 the lead guitarist, Malcolm Pugh (A Loathing Requiem, Diskreet, Ex-Enfold Darkness) decided to reignite the fire. Recruiting Mike Low (Oubliette, Ex-Enfold Darkness) on guitar and Jack Blackburn (Vital Remains, Ex-Enfold Darkness) on drums, the plan was clear – musical annihilation.
Inferi sets themselves outside of the generic pack by mixing melodious, yet technical musicianship with virtuosic songwriting rarely since in today’s extreme metal acts.
In Early 2014, Inferi will release their third effort, The Path of Apotheosis.
LEGACY OF VYDAR – www.facebook.com/legacyofvydar
Since their foundation in 2007 “Legacy of Vydar” from Cologne stand for Epic Death Metal. This is a mixture of Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore that is, now and then, garnished with some hymnal elements.
A special characteristics of LoV are the three guitars that both provide distinctive power and polyphonic melodies. This, merged with the pure force of untamed drum and bass thunderbolts, energized vokills, occasional clean vocals and a “bombastic stage presence” makes LoV the eye catcher on every festival.
Head banging forward most, fighting against the consuming moshpit or calm listening to the sophisticated compositions … here you’ll find your yen! All the passion, despair and hope that come with each song are drawn from the direct heritage of “Vidar”, norse God of Revenge who retaliates the death of his father “Odin”, precipated by the Fenris Wulf during Ragnarök.
After the EP, “Face to Face” from 2009, the first full-length album “A Hundred Miles”, and gigs with big players like “Eluveitie”, “Suidakra” and “Koroded” the newest brewage is on the menu.
“Wake Up” is taken from our brand-new EP “Damned” which was released in October 2013. Tune in!

PESTILENCE – www.pestilence.nl
The new album starts with something that sounds like a sacred sermon. In just a few seconds the mood changes, from holy to hellish. It sets the tone for the rest of the album. Although “Doctrine” is not a concept album in a traditional sense, the songs are tied together thematically. The lyrics deal with the various ways humanity often suffers under the burden of religion, doctrines and politics. “I always put a lot of effort in the lyrics”, says Patrick Mameli. “I never felt the need to write so called gore lyrics, like so many other bands do. I am aware of what is going on in the world and I have the feeling that I have something to say about it.”
The curse of religious and political oppression is a theme that fits the music perfectly. “Doctrine” is by far the most extreme album the Dutch death metal band Pestilence unleashed to its worldwide fan base. The album proves at the same time that even after 25 years the band is still willing to take chances. It offers thought provoking lyrics, dissonant chords, complex rhythm patterns and an assault of low tuned monster riffs. Intensity is the key word. Like it always has been.
Pestilence started in 1986. Initially the band was heavily influenced by American and German thrash metal. By the time of their second album, “Consuming Impulse” from 1989, the band had developed its own style: brutal death metal. In the years that followed Pestilence became one of the prime bands in the international death metal scene. The group, based around guitarist, songwriter and (then occasional) vocalist Patrick Mameli, toured relentlessly. Especially tours in the US proved to be very successful.
The band became more skilled over the years, and outside influences crept into the music. This all lead in 1993 to the album “Spheres”, on which Patrick Mameli combined his well loved death metal sound with a new musical passion: fusion. The album was an artistic triumph, but was at the same time many years ahead of its time. In 1994 Pestilence disbanded and Patrick Mameli withdrew from the music scene.
The band announced its comeback in 2008. Any possible skepticism was blown away when in 2009 the new album “Resurrection Macabre” hit the streets. The still loyal fan base was treated with an album that had all the classic ingredients, but showed an even better musicianship than before. The international line up consisted of singer and guitarist Patrick Mameli, bass player Tony Choy, drummer Peter Wildoer and guitarist Patrick Uterwijk. After the release of the album the band toured Europe, The US and South America, playing for old fans and metal maniacs that were way too young the first time around. “The magic was there again”, says Patrick Mameli, looking back.
Never a band to rest on its laurels Pestilence will again blow away the audience with the brand new studio recording. The sound on the album is dominated by the eight string guitars that both Patrick Mameli and Patrick Uterwijk started to use in the period leading up to the album. It gives the songs a brutal, low edged sound that sets a new standard in extreme metal. “The eight string guitar opened a lot of new doors for us”, says Patrick Mameli. “It gives us lots of new musical options and allows us to make the music sound more brutal than before. At the same time it forced me to sing in a higher pitch, because I didn”t want to get my vocals in the way of the low tuned guitar parts. It was a blessing in disguise. My vocals sound more intense and manic than before.”
“Doctrine” marks also a partly new line up that is entirely Dutch again. Jeroen Paul Thesseling was already around during the “Spheres” days. The latest addition is 23 year old drummer Yuma van Eekelen, who is also making his name as member of The New Dominion. “It was partly out of idealism that I returned in 2008 with an international line up”, recalls Patrick Mameli. “It was a great experience, but it was very hard to really work together due to the distance and time. For instance, we never had the possibility to practice on a regular basis. We do now. We exchange ideas, go out together and tell each other which cool albums to check out. Just like in the old tape trader days. It”s great. Pestilence finally feels like a real band again.”
Pestilence is:
Patrick Mameli – Lead guitar/Vocals
Patrick Uterwijk – Lead guitar

SAMMATH – www.sammath.nl
Sammath was formed in 1994 by Jan Kruitwagen. Inspired by early black metal and the thrash, speed and death formations of the eighties. Growing up in Australia raw fast metal left its mark on Sammath. Jan moved from Sydney to Europe, Holland in 1989.
First promo tape “Visions upon winter lands” was recorded in 1984. Soon after this tape, Kruitwagen got in contact with M. Gertsen. “Zwaardbroeders Bij De Bergengte” (Brothers Of The Sword At The Mountain Pass) was released in 1996 several tracks appeared on complication tapes worldwide. The next year the promo tape “De ruïnes fluisteren” (the ruins whisper) was released in 97. This tape led to a deal with Folter Records in 1997. Gertsen was relieved, due to lack of interest and vision. The first CD “Strijd” (Battle) was recorded in 1999 on 16 tracks. All lyrics, music and instruments were recorded by Kruitwagen. Numerous tracks were released on complication tapes/cds like the “Encyclopedia Pestilentia” complication . The new Sammath CD 2002: “Verwoesting/Devastation” was released, a violent and unconventional way of combining black and death metal. After the recording of the album the idea was born to search for bandmembers. Drummer Koos Bos added his insane drumming to Sammath in 2001, the violence continued. In 2002 Sammath performed at the Under The Black Sun Festival and did some gigs in the Netherlands The live line up was Ruud Nillesen, bass, Cor van Maris, vocals, Koos Bos, drums and Jan Kruitwagen, guitar. In 2002 Macabre Operetta re-released the first album “Strijd” on LP under licence from Folter.

To promote the album Sammath did some different shows in Holland and at the Under The Black Sun Festival. Hanna van den Berg joined the live line up.2006 Jan got in contact with madman Magnus from Magnificat they decided to combine his skills into Sammath, he will contribute mad guitar solos to the new, most aggressive, violent and raging Sammath album Triumph in hatred in 2009. After the release of Triumph in hatred Sammath went back to writing material for the 5th album. After recording some demo tracks Guido from Hammerheart Records got in contact with Jan to talk about the release of the next album via legendary Hammerheart Records. In addition to two full-length albums (1999’s “Beyond the Cursed Eclipse” and 2001’s “Psychotic Sculpture”) released by Holland’s Displeased Records and 2006’s self-released “Regenesis Creation,” Vesperian Sorrow has been featured on four compilation albums as well, including Metal Blade’s “Blackened V”. Their fourth full-length offering is entitled “Stormwinds of Ages” and was recorded, mixed, and mastered out of their very own Amplitude Media Studios. Released on April 24, 2012, it continues to garner rave reviews from metal media worldwide.
Since their inception in 1998, they have toured throughout Europe and North America, playing shows and festivals in Germany, England, Canada, Mexico, and most of the United States. Carrying the Texas banner with pride, Vesperian Sorrow are a band well-respected throughout the entire metal community with intentions of upholding that respect and continuing to earn it with a progressively darkening evolution of epic extreme metal.
