Billy Rymer – The Dillinger Escape Plan Video Series – Part One

The first of several videos to be posted over the next few weeks, from Billy Rymer and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Billy is a well rounded, experienced, and educated musician. He grew up living the small town life of Long Island New York. It was there that upon receiving his first drum set on his eighth birthday, he made a commitment to his craft that has brought him to experience a plethora of professional situations. Throughout his musical career, Billy has had the opportunity to share stages with such artists as 311, Alien Ant Farm, Matisyahu, Kelly Clarkson, The Jonas Brothers, Lifehouse, American HiFi, Bloodhound Gang, Biohazard, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit, The Sleeping and more. His styles and approach to the drum set  range from a wide variety of musical genres. Billy has put in his hours studying the fundamentals of rock, reggae, jazz, tribal, drum n bass, dub, latin, funk, jungle, hip hop and R&B drumming.

In the summer of 2005, Billy joined the band The Rivalry. After only four weeks of rehearsals, he was on the road with Alien Ant Farm for three months all over the continental US. The befriending of Alien Ant Farm’s drummer Mike Cosgrove was the initial spark that lead the project to greater lengths. Cosgrove soon took role as the producer for The Rivalry’s debut record entitled “Emergency Broadcast.” This endeavor began at the legendary NRG Studios in Hollywood California, and was completed at 311’s studio, The Hive. The Rivalry soon found themselves placed on the bill with 311 for the first two weeks of their 2007 summer Unity Tour with Matisyahu.  It was this particular touring experience, that had given Billy merely a taste of what his dreams may be.
   
At the ripened age of 23, he is now hustling his talent and his story in hopes to land him a position in a permanent full-time professional situation.
