The Avedis Zildjian Company is launching 15 new drumstick models this summer, starting with two new Artist Series models developed in conjunction with Joey Kramer and Danny Seraphine. Also being introduced are several new Maple, Maple DIP, and Birch models.
Zildjian is adding the world famous Aerosmith logo, along with Joey’s signature, to its Joey Kramer stick. Known for its unique, cross-sanded, raw finish, this versatile, medium-sized drumstick gives drummers a little extra reach at 16 ¼ inches. Widely respected as the original drummer and a founding member of the band Chicago, one of Zildjian’s newest drumsticks comes from long-standing cymbal artist, Danny Seraphine. Seraphine’s legendary integration of jazz chops with a rock feel has long been cited as a major influence on many of today’s great drummers. His new Artist Series stick, featuring a unique thumb grove, facilitates proper hand positioning and comfort and allows drummers to quickly locate the optimal fulcrum point. Constructed from U.S. Select Hickory, this stick features a teardrop shaped tip for full, articulate sounds.
Zildjian expands on its already impressive line-up of Maple sticks with eight new models. The Maple models are designed to offer a lighter feel and darker tonality than hickory yet retain all of the features of the Super 7A, Jazz, 5A, and 5B wood tip models that drummers have come to trust. Zildjian’s new Maple DIP models, the 5A, 5B, Super 7A, Maple Mini Ball, and Maple Acorn, are treated with a double coating of Zildjian’s exclusive DIP grip in a vibrant green color. The DIP coating provides an increased thickness in the grip area and a desirable back weighting to improve the feel and rebound effect of the stick.
Zildjian rounds out its new drumstick offerings with four new laminated Birch models. Constructed from resin-coated plys of U.S. Birch wood, this dense material provides heavier weight, consistency, feel, and durability. Available in Heavy Super 7A, Heavy 6A, Heavy 5A, and Heavy 5B models, these super solid cross sticks enhance projection and brighten tonality.
