SDM: Tell us about the iTunes edition that comes
with the bonus track A Sinister Call.
We decided to not include A Sinister Call on the
main album, we wanted the album to fade out with
the long-ass jam at the end of New Truths Old Lies,
but we couldn t find a place for sinister to sit in
the rest of the songs, so the decision was made to
make it a bonus track. It s a little something extra
for iTunes buyers.
SDM: Tell us about the album when it was available
as a pre-order, giving fans the opportunity to have
their name in the album credits? Whose idea was
this and did it work out?
That was the idea of our label, and it was great to
offer something so exclusive for our die-hard fans.
I know if I was given the opportunity to have my
name in an album as a kid I d have jumped at the
chance.
SDM: Tell us about the amazon edition which
comes with the bonus track New Truths, Old Lies
(Extended Version). Tell us about the other editions
that are available.
Haha... while we were in the studio we realized we
could have a lot of fun with the concluding part of
Truths so we decided to just go with the flow and
jam on it for a while. The result was faaaar to long
to put on as an album track, so we decided to keep
the excess and make it bonus material. As well as
that, Ol did alternate solo takes when he couldn t
decide which one to go with. We kept them all,
and wanted people to hear them, so there s many
different editions out there.
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW SDM: What do you think has made Evile reach
BENCARTER commercial status and chart with each album? Do
you find that older fans are no longer as interested
as when you first started, when everyone was
saying Evile is going to be the next huge re-thrash
band? How do you feel about that?
evile I think we ll always be the band to try new things
within the genre, and do things our way.

Of course, in doing that we ll gain and lose fans
along the way, but we ve always said we want to
progress and go forward, not
backward. There s only so many times you can
release a typical thrash album, and we want to
showcase we can do more than that. I don t think
we ll ever be commercial , especially here in the
UK where metal is still predominantly pushed
underground in favour of radio-friendly, mass-
produced pop. We just want to keep pushing
ourselves and try to remain viable and relevant as
long as possible. Longevity is the word I think.
SDM: Do you agree that Evile is a band hugely
influenced by Metallica and somewhat sound
similar?
Of course, we took huge influence from Metallica,
and the similarities and coincidences between
our career and theirs are scary, and very well
documented. Our sound is our own, but people will
always draw similarities as the genre we play in is
the same.
SDM: What did you do differently on this album
that you didn t do on others?
Haha... I went straight back to the hospital after
recording the drum tracks. I was away for a
couple of weeks, and when I returned the whole
thing sounded completely huge. It had taken a
completely different turn and was so great to hear
the fullness and the energy.
SDM: Who did the cover art? Who produced the
album?
We asked Eliran Kantor to do the artwork, as we
loved his work with Testament on Dark roots of
Earth. We gave him a very short brief and left
him to it. What you see is what we first got back,
and it suits the album perfectly. It s very abstract
and stands apart from all our other covers, which
is what we wanted to give this album it s own
identity.
