UK Tour 2010 – February 7th, Wrexham UK
By: Matt Holland of Man Must Die
We arrive in Wrexham early and are right outside the back door to the venue so load in is nice and easy. The place is called Central Station and as the name suggests, it’s an old converted train station. It’s a pretty decent venue but today is freezing.
Load in and soundcheck go without any problems and we get some pretty good catering from the bar downstairs. The Scotland/France rugby match is on tv so I watch that to pass some time. I’m not a big rugby fan but it’s good to have some kind of link to things happening back home.
There are 2 local supports tonight who do a good job, then we’re up. It’s not a huge turnout, smallest of the tour but people seem to know our stuff and we get a good reaction. Our playing is really good tonight and there’s a great vibe onstage. Kataklysm and Decapitated play and strangely the place seems to empty as the night progresses. Maybe it’s because it’s Sunday night, who knows…?
One down point to the night is Alan’s (MMD guitarist) case containing his amp head gets dropped and smashes the tubes inside. This will need to be fixed for tomorrow’s show in London and puts a lot of pressure on him. He’s not too happy, as you’d expect.
After we pack up the trailer we have a couple of hours to kill before bus call so we head into the town so the guys can find some food. The town centre is deserted and explains why the show was so quiet.
I take an early night when we get on the bus and hope to be rested for tomorrow’s show, arguably the most important one of the tour…
Cheers Everyone,
Matt
