UK Tour 2010 – February 3rd, Manchester, England
By: Matt Holland of Man Must Die
We arrive in Manchester early afternoon in a snowstorm and load the gear in as fast as possible to avoid getting it too wet. Soundcheck is a quick affair and only Decapitated have a full runthrough, due to there being local support using a different kit, and time running short.
We go on after the local band and play an acceptable set. There seems to be a little fire missing from our bellies tonight and although musically we cut it, we all feel we could have had a bit more rage. Maybe it was the lack of soundcheck or the depressing weather. An allotted time has been set aside before we play the next show, to get together and psyche the band up for a brutal performance.
All bands go down really well to a largely enthusiastic crowd, although it’s a bit slow on merch for everyone.
I’ve had to increase my stretching warmup routine as I’m starting to feel more tightness in my muscles, probably due to load out/ins and strenuous playing with no real comfortable areas to rest up. I’ve been concentrating on my leg muscle groups; Quads, Hamstrings, Calves and Groin, and using lunges and squats to limber up on top of my stick work.
There’s a party atmosphere on the bus when we pack up and plenty of whisky and Bacardi is consumed. I take leave quite early and look forward to the Bristol show! (and seeing who has the worst hangover!!)
Cheers,
Matt
