AMAGORTIS – www.amagortis.ch

Amagortis was formed in 2001 by Daniel, Stoef, Nathalie and friends. Together they created the unique band name. In August of 2002 the band recorded a three song demo containing three tracks of groovy and brutal death metal.

In January of 2004 Amagortis released by them self their first full length album "Abominable" including 10 tracks of pure devastation! The line-up for this recording and the following gigs was: Daniel (Guitar and backing vocals), Grimm (Vocals), Stoef (Drums) and Nathalie (Bass). Multiple songs off this album have appeared on various underground compilations. Since 2004 Amagortis performed several times on small gigs and metal-festivals in Switzerland.

In 2006 Pascal replaced Grimm on vocals, bringing a more guttural and brutal style to the band. Influenced by the world-wide death metal scene the band gained more and more live-experience and the music became more brutal and faster than before. In December of 2007 Amagortis released their second full length album "Pre-Natal Cannibalism" via Fastbeast Entertainment including 11 tracks of slamming guttural brutality. In support of the release the band toured in the USA and the UK and played a number of gigs and festivals in Germany, Holland, Russia and of course Switzerland.

After the departure of Stoef and Nathalie, the line-up consisted of Daniel (Guitar and backing vocals), Pascal (Vocals), Ruppi (Drums) and Marc (Bass). In 2010 the band has signed a multiple album deal with the US-label Brutal Bands, placing them next to international heavyweights such as Devourment, Insidious Decrepancy, Abysmal Torment and Human Mincer. The band released their third full length album entitled "Intrinsic
Indecency" through Brutal Bands in August 2010.

During 2011 Amagortis toured four weeks trough Europe alongside Gorgasm and Defeated Sanity, introducing their new bassist Boris. Before and after this tour, the Band played some scene festivals but also some club shows. Between these dates, the band is rehearsing and writing songs. A Promo with 3 brand new mind crushing songs was just released. The next album release is set for May/June 2013. Until then, Amagortis is ready to hit the stages.

CATTLE DECAPITATION – www.facebook.com/cattledecapitation

You don’t name your band Cattle Decapitation if you’re looking to subtly insinuate your way into the consciousness of the masses. Equally, unleashing some of the most intense, horrifying, and extreme metal known to mankind will not ingratiate you with those of a sensitive nature, for the San Diegan’s boundary-pushing music is designed to turn heads and snap necks, and not necessarily in that order. Returning with their seventh full-length, the devastating Monolith Of Inhumanity, the band have never sounded more focused, more aggressive, or more determined to get in the faces of those who erroneously believe they have already experienced the band at their extreme best. “One of the main things this band has done since the very beginning was to try to break tradition and break the mold of what’s acceptable, in any given genre we’re working in,” states vocalist Travis Ryan. “I’m really happy that with this record we’ve been able to successfully push those boundaries further than we ever have, and without going into the ‘suck’ realm or sounding contrived. We’ve gone so far out on a limb on this one, and I’m just ecstatic that
we’ve pulled off what we were trying to achieve.”

This achievement stands as one of the most volatile, ambitious, and impossible to aptly categorize records you will hear in 2012. Dragging their ever-evolving deathgrind sound kicking and screaming into the epic territory inhabited by the likes of Dimmu Borgir and Anaal Nathrakh, the quartet redefine all perceptions of what Cattle Decapitation is. “The mindset of this band has always been abrasive and balls to the wall, and like a car accident where there’s no fucking stopping it. Throwing melodic vocals or guitar work – or dare we say catchy elements – into that is tantalizing,” says Ryan. That such elements have been woven sparingly into their turbulent racket does not mean the band have in any way diminished the sheer visceral impact they are known for. “There can be hooks and catchiness without compromising what the band – or any individual in the band – is all about,” asserts guitarist Josh Elmore. “Having these elements at our disposal is just another tool with which we can build the best songs that we can. It was great also having input from Derek (Engemann, bass, who makes his writing and recording debut with this album), who added some new dynamics to some of the songs. We also spent a lot of time thinking about structure on this record, wanting every moment to count, no matter what the tone of it was.” After one exposure to Monolith Of Inhumanity it’s evident that these more melodic elements truly enhance the power of the tracks, and make for a more diverse and involving collection. On “A Living, Breathing Piece Of Defecating Meat” the band unleash a chorus that manages to be hideous and infectious at the same time, while the towering “Your Disposal” and “Lifestalker” wield sweeping, dramatic sections tinged with apocalyptic fury, which are all the more gripping for the inclusion of Ryan’s melodic shrieking. “I was waiting for the guys to write parts I could use that kind of melody on, and as soon as they played me “Your Disposal” I dropped the song I was working on and just went for it,” enthuses Ryan. “This is the first record where I really listened to what the fans were saying they wanted, and many of them wanted a lot more of those weird, epic, melodic parts that crept into The Harvest Floor (2009), and I’m like okay, done, because luckily I agree with you this time!”

As with all of the band’s releases, Monolith Of Inhumanity revolves around a central concept, building upon Ryan’s potent distaste for contemporary civilization and the damage wrought in the name of progress. “Whereas The Harvest Floor focused on sort of rounding up the populace and getting rid of them, this record is about what would happen had we let them go. It’s about where humanity will end up if it continues the course it’s on,” the vocalist explains. This concept, inspired in part by 2001: A Space Odyssey, is once again captured in the cover art by longtime collaborator Wes Benscoter, depicting a bleak apocalyptic future and the regression of mankind into apes. “The monolith really represents technology, and the cover’s this trash heap with the monolith atop it and humans scavenging all around it, because that’s all they’re able to do any more. It’s where we’re headed on the course we’re on, and yeah, a lot of kids will say that’s a really negative, shitty attitude to have, but is it not correct?”

In realizing the record, the quartet – rounded out by drummer Dave McGraw – travelled to Denver, Colorado to collaborate with producer Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cephalic Carnage). “Dave brought really good performances out of everybody, and he gave the record a lot of clarity while the heaviness is still there,” states Elmore, though it was the producer’s suggestions on how to better flesh out the songs that made the most profound difference in the guitarist’s eyes. “The guy really knows what he’s doing. I do a lot of layering after the basic rhythm track, and if I came to a point where I wasn’t sure about something someone would always pipe up and say you realize everything Dave has suggested so far has worked? Try it!” he laughs. That the record is as accomplished as it is also belies the fact that the schedules of the members made it difficult for them to focus on writing it over the year they had allotted. “As it turns out we work really well under pressure,” Ryan says with a wry smile. “But we were all so busy it’s literally a wonder that we got it done at all in that year, let alone what we came out with. It makes me feel like we’re capable of anything, and that’s really a new development.”

The visual aspect of their output having always been important to them, the band are enthused to have the album released as a gatefold vinyl, and to have Tom Bunk, creator of The Garbage Pail Kids collectors cards from the 1980s, design cards for the individual members of the band, which will be available with pre-orders. “Collecting those cards was one of my favorite things when I was a kid, and our friend and ex-manager is a complete nerd about it and has known Tom Bunk for years, and put us in touch with him. This is an older guy that doesn’t have to be fucking around with some deathgrind band who isn’t going to push him to new heights, but he thought it sounded like a fun project and he was very cool about everything. It still hasn’t really hit me that we quite literally have our own Garbage Pail Kid cards!” Ryan grins. “The funny thing is that it also inadvertently ties right into the theme of the record, which has so much focus on garbage and waste. It didn’t even occur to me until months later, but that’s the beauty of this band, things happen for a reason. For instance, for the first time, going into this record I didn’t have the whole concept worked out in my head. Usually I have it in mind as much as a few years before we get around to making the record, and I need that, it has to make sense to me or it’s just not going to work. I was so scared it just wasn’t going to come, but one day it literally just hit me. The title, the concept, the cover, all of it, and suddenly everything fell into place, and now it’s done I think this is the first time we’ve all been one hundred percent proud of what we’ve created – and for good reason.”

Bio by Dan Slessor – Monolith of Inhumanity will be available on May 8th, 2012 in North America.

“A homicidal maniac lives within all of us. There is a place inside everyone’s brain that is starting to rot and fester. Maybe it’s because of television. Maybe it’s because of office-related stress issues. Maybe it’s those long hours spent looking at gore-porn, desensitized to the sight of severed heads, surgery mishaps and third-world atrocities. Give that rot time to spread and it becomes a driver, a maniac. He fantasizes about playing in blood, the wearing of faces, etc. He lives in a morgue filled with the bodies of dead celebrities, the ones we take sick pleasure in seeing all mouldy and covered with sick on the cover of Who Magazine. This is what Celebrity Morgue is.”

Saint Vitus are the godfathers of American Doom Metal. A statement weighing as heavy as this band sounds. Nonetheless this is simply the truth. Therefore it is an event of historic proportions in the world of Heavy Metal that after seventeen years since the release of "Die Healing" (1995) SAINT VITUS now return with their eighth full-length masterpiece "Lillie: F-65". This album includes the trademark song writing style so beloved by SAINT VITUS fans: There is the cataclysmic and unmistakable guitar sound of co-founder Dave Chandler full of reverbs, feedbacks, flanger and apocalyptic distortion leading to amazing and magical solos. "Lillie: F-65" is furthermore graced with the deeply resonant vocals of Scott "Wino" Weinrich who returns to record an album with the band for the first time since the glorious "V" (1989) and whom many consider to be the classic SAINT VITUS vocalist. Doom adepts will delight in the honey slow dripping of notes and the sudden energetic outbursts, which are as painfully depressing as sweet.

The already legendary story of SAINT VITUS began in the year 1978, when guitarist Dave Chandler, together with Armando Acosta on drums and bass player Mark Adams, started rehearsing. After trying out two other singers, the band finally settled for vocalist Scott Reagers under the designation TYRANT. In August 1979 the quartet played their first show and in 1980 their name was finally changed to SAINT VITUS. Reportedly this move was inspired by the BLACK SABBATH song "St. Vitus' Dance", taken from the "Volume 4" album (1972).

The English founders of Heavy Metal were as much an influence on SAINT VITUS as US Hardcore Punk heroes BLACK FLAG. The latter’s leader Greg Ginn even signed SAINT VITUS on his label SST Records. After at least two years of local West Coast punk shows the band even embarked on their first tour with BLACK FLAG in December 1984.

The eponymous debut album "Saint Vitus" had been released in the same year and was quickly followed by the second full-length "Hallow's Victim" (1985) and an EP entitled "The Walking Dead" (1985). With Thrash Metal on a furious rise, the ultra-heavy sound of SAINT VITUS was mainly enjoyed by connoisseurs of Doom and a dedicated underground following. This might have been one of the reasons for Scott Reagers to part from the band in 1986. His unexpected move turned out to be hardly a problem for the band as they recruited Scott "Wino" Weinrich from THE OBSESSED, who is considered as the ultimate voice of SAINT VITUS by a clear majority of their adherents.

When Scott Reagers left, Dave Chandler had already written most of "Born Too Late" (1986). Yet since nothing was recorded, SAINT VITUS simply waited until their new frontman Wino was comfortable with the new songs. This album gained the Americans growing attention in the Metal underground especially overseas. The anthemic title track is considered be one of the great Doom hymns by many fans.

The EP "Thirsty and Miserable" (1987) followed, which featured a BLACK FLAG cover version of the same name, but "Mournful Cries" (1988) was still going to be the last album for SST Records. All this hard work during the previous years started to pay off. With their aptly named fifth full-length "V" (1989) now released on the famous German Doom label Hellhound Records and the live recording "Live" coming out a year later, interest started to grow considerably, although at first in continental Europe, but soon after in England as well. Just as the horizon was brightening for the Godfathers of Doom, Wino decided to leave SAINT VITUS and reform THE OBSESSED in 1990, which turned out to be a serious blow.

Wino was first replaced by Christian Lindersson from Swedish musical and spiritual brothers COUNT RAVEN. With him at the microphone SAINT VITUS recorded "C.O.D." (1992), which was produced by Don Dokken and gained high critical acclaim. Despite the warm welcome received, the band remained largely inactive after this release.

Two years later, SAINT VITUS reunited with their original singer Scott Reagers. This led to the again much applauded album "Die Healing" (1995), which was recorded in Berlin. It might have been the right time for the group to reap the harvest of all the amazing songs that they had sown, but due to severe health problems of Scott Reagers their European tour had to be prematurely ended and that seemed to be the end of the SAINT VITUS story for a long time, much to the dismay of their loyal and by then many followers.

It took until the year 2003 for a new sign of life, when SAINT VITUS returned shortly to the stage for only two concerts, one in Chicago and the other at the prominent With Full Force Festival in Germany. The classic line-up for these celebrated reunion shows consisted of Dave Chandler, Scott Weinrich, Mark Adams and Armando Acosta. Six years later, SAINT VITUS performed at the prestigious Roadburn Festival and embarked on a mini tour through Europe.

At the time nobody could have foreseen that April 29th, 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany would mark Armando Acosta’s final performance with SAINT VITUS. After this last show in Europe the band returned to the States as planned. There Armando’s multiple serious health issues were continuing to take their toll on him, and with great sadness on November 25th, 2010 SAINT VITUS received the painful news that their long time friend and band mate had passed away.

When SAINT VITUS played their massive show at Hellfest in France, the crowd witnessed a new member on the drum stool. Henry Vasquez, who had already joined Dave Chandler on his project DEBRIS INC. made his debut there and remained with the band from that day on.

Now in the year 2012 Season of Mist proudly presents "Lillie: F-65". Seventeen years after their last album and nine years after their reunion, SAINT VITUS finally return with an album that will cement their status as true icons of Doom. The US legend is back and stronger than ever with "Lillie: F-65". Bow down and enjoy this soon to be SAINT VITUS classic! Do not miss the opportunity to see them perform live on their world tour in 2012!
