I just got home on the 8th of April after touring with Jesu (ex-Godflesh/Napalm Death) supporting Isis on a nice and fruitful two months! The tour was a great success with Jesu finally making it over after receiving their work visas. This surprising news lifted many spirits! Before that Intronaut filled in for Jesu the first 15 shows, which was of course unfortunate for Jesu, but also great for my band to be able to just jump right in.
During this period of the first 15 shows Intronaut shared the stage with other bands such as Oxbow and Torche from San Diego, CA all the way to Washington DC. Once Jesu finally made it over to the states, from New York City to Los Angeles, Zozobra(ex Cave In/Old Man Gloom) completed the rest of the tour with Jesu and Isis.
I really have to say that I have faced a new challenge on this tour. Playing such slow and simple drum machine like patterns took a couple of shows to really get comfortable. To play with a click against back tracking and a drum machine was different. I have used a click before in the studio and at rehearsals, but never live against other sequenced music. I'm used to playing more technically challenged music and material that is more up tempo, so this was great discipline! I think by limiting what I could do and being confined to a drum machine state, really solidified my playing rendering tasteful use. It was a great honor filling in for Ted Parsons who has played for so many great bands such as Godflesh, Prong, Swans, Killing Joke etc.. He's a prime example of a human that sounds like a machine!!!
Danny Walker Does Session work for Death Metal act THORNLORD
