I am Eric Kovacs, Guitarist, vocals, bass and drummer for (BlackMetal/Death/Experimental) band SALEM ORCHID. I have started playing and doing music since I was about 12 or 13. I started out on guitar at first and slowly worked my way up to being a really sick guitarist. I have been through many bands in the past years. My first band was like a metal band, just straight up metal, it had clean vox in it but it didn't matter much cause it was my first time in a band as the lead guitar player. After playing in that band, I developed my playing abilities alot. After that band, it was just different styles of music bands.
After my disbatch from Death Metal around april of 2006, I went off to start a black metal project called SALEM ORCHID. Salem orchid was supposed to be a 2 man band. I had started it with a former friend of mine who was the bass player/back vox. After a month, I disbanded him from the band for reasons that will not be mentioned, I took SALEM ORCHID into my own hands as a one man band. After turning SALEM ORCHID into my own hands is when I started learning all the instruments I needed to know. I picked up drums, bass and Keyboards. For the moment I am playing real drums. I'm not the best at it, thus I use a machine at times but, I am working on being one of the top drummers in the world! hopefuly I will get there one day. So from all the learning I have on drums so far, I use the techniqes and form them with a drum machine for the time being, till I become the drum machine. Salem Orchid has become very big in a very short time. I am on the way of getting a signing and I am open to any offers that come upon me. Right now salem orchid is working on new tracks. There are 4 new ones on the band page on myspace. There are no keyboards for these songs, for Salem Orchid has a tiny change to the music now, but who knows…Salem Orchid will be coming up with new songs, with and without keyboards.
I just use my Fruty Loops drum machine and make the layout of how I want the drums to go and then I just export them into PRO TOOL LE7 to start the guitar, bass, vocal and keyboard trackings.
