Kevin said, “I decided to start a band with my twin brother after going to a ZZ Top concert with my dad when I was nine years old. I couldn’t take my eyes off of their drummer, Frank Beard, the entire show (the irony in his name is too much!). I started drum lessons the next week and played my first gig doing a cover of Wild Thing by The Troggs that year at my Elementary School assembly. I also signed my first autographs to a bunch of first graders that night. After tasting real fame that day, I was hooked.
I was drawn toward metal since the beginning because, in my opinion, metal drumming is just flat out more fun than other genres. I love the feeling of being completely exhausted after a session or show. I don’t think I’ve ever played a gig without being soaked through head to toe. I’ve been playing with The Osedax for about 10 years while filling in and doing other various side projects during that time. I jumped at the chance to join up with Gloom last year. The music is awesome, we have great chemistry and it gets me back to my love for speed and technicality.
My biggest influences are Abe Cunningham, Danny Carey, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Ben Koller, and Animal.”
