Dave Lombardo’s Philm Announces New Record Deal with UDR Music + Release of Sophomore Album, 'Fire From The Evening Sun'
Wednesday, 30 July 2014 19:38

Drummer Dave Lombardo’s Philm has announced that their long awaited second studio album, Fire From The Evening Sun, will be released on the band’s new label, UDR Music, on September 16, 2014 in the US (September 15 in UK/September 12 in other European territories).

“UDR is honored to be working with Philm. This partnership seems very instinctual," said UDR Music’s head of A&R/Marketing, Jay Lansford.  “Dave Lombardo and I worked together during the Grip Inc. years. After hearing Philm’s new album this alliance was clearly divine will.  Powerful, intense... urgent.  These three prolific musicians have created something that is refreshingly not mundane, but ear-shattering and groundbreaking.”

Led by the title track single ‘Fire From The Evening Sun’, Philm’s unparalleled drummer, Dave Lombardo, states that the new album will mark a different turn in the bands musical journey. “Philm’s first album, Harmonic, is still an amazing work to me. It’s improvisational and raw. It was my first time producing an album and I am very proud of it.   The new album is a completely different animal. It is again produced by me, but mastered and mixed by a couple of musical giants... Tyler Bates and Robert Carranza.  I believe this album has a daring, callous temperament about it that really sums up our mindset right now.  No improvising, no fluff.  It’s heavy and in your face from start to finish. You may think you know what PHILM is, but you don’t.  If you haven’t seen us live, you have no idea. We thrive on being out of our comfort zones and want fans to take that ride.”

If ‘Fire From The Evening Sun’ is any indication, this album will not only give Lombardo fans what they have so passionately missed, but will take us on a heated musical journey that will leave us soaked in sonic beatitude.

Philm – Gerry Nestler (vocals, guitars), Pancho Tomaselli (bass) and Dave Lombardo (drums) - will hit the road this fall in support of the album by performing several shows throughout Europe and the U.S. with more dates to be confirmed.

Tuesday, 29 July 2014 15:59

Drummer Danny Walker and Intronaut will hit the road again after a short break and their recent tour with TesseracT.  The band has been on the road in support of their current album Habitual Levitations ever since its release on Century Media in March of 2013. This special run of shows is in celebration of the band's 10 year anniversary!

Guitarist/singer Sacha Dunable had this to say about the tour:

"We're taking a break from writing a new record to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a band with this special run of shows. We haven't finalized a set list yet, but expect at least one song from every release, and maybe a special guest or two to come out and help us play them. Joining us on these shows will be our Canadian friends Anciients, and the LA show will feature Ides Of Gemini, Silver Snakes, and The Great Wall.

We are also planning a couple special 10th Anniversary releases, hopefully to be available by this tour, so keep an eye out for that. Thank you to everyone who has supported Intronaut for these past 10 years! We love you forever."

Sick Drummer Magazine Issue 28 Featuring Ray Luzier of Korn Now Available - 8 Different Covers - Limited-Edition Posters
Wednesday, 23 July 2014 18:05

Sick Drummer Magazine Issue 28 featuring Ray Luzier of Korn is now available online. It's the first time we have ever offered more than one cover design for an issue of our magazine, and the first time we are offering high-resolution, limited-edition, large-format posters for purchase. This issue has 8 different covers! Not just different from each other, but also different from an artistic stance, and not something you've seen or expect as a typical magazine cover. These covers are photographic art, taken with immense resolution and outstanding art direction by AGD LLC. One will be revealed each week for two months straight. Leave it to us to do something no drum magazine has ever done... We love them and hope you will too.

There are 250 available that will be hand signed by Ray, then will never be available again. There are also 700 available without a signature, but again, once they are gone they are gone for good. This is a must have for any fan of Ray and/or Korn. The posters are 26.75" x 38.5" and were taken in such high-resolution, they could be put on the side of a building. See the poster and pre-order here.

This magazine issue also features Anthony Ipri of Mortal Decay, James Payne of Hour of Penance, Vinnie Paul taks about HellYeah, Juliana Novo of Crucifixion, Ben Harclerode of Whitechapel, Chris Reifert of Autopsy, Shaun Lacanne of Putrid Pile and much more.

You will also find a video premier from Doug Anderson and Unfathomable Ruination, a column from Gus Rios and an exlusive Isolated Track from his new Gruesome project that also features Matt Harvey (Exhumed), Daniel Gonzales (Possessed) and Robin Mazen. Additionally, there is some never before seen multi-angle concert footage of the legendary Pentagram, from their San Francisco appearance back in February this year.

And if that's not enough, we have also launched Brutal Beatings Volume XV! This compilation features: Spencer Prewett and Archspire from the Season of Mist family, Al Mazzotti and Cripple Bastards from the Relapse Records family, Upstate NY's up and coming Order of The Dead, Pyrrhon and Alex Cohen also from the Relapse gang, Unveiled and more.

Check out the new issue with Ray Luzier here!

Thanks for the continued support... SDM
