Tasmanian grind outfit Meticulous Despoilment, which features members of Separatist, Mephistopheles and I Live In Your Basement, have made their new demo available for the bargain price of nothing. The 22 minute release, ‘The Beer Battered, Bacon Wrapped, Deep Fried Burrito’ is comprised of 8 brutal tracks of grind/slam and 2 remixes, all with surprisingly thick, clean production. -----REVIEW FOR METICULOUS DESPOILMENT------

This week's demo is simply ripe with pure, unadulterated brutality and hails from Australia, which makes sense considering that their entire continent was colonized by criminals. The first thing you'll notice (aside from the retarded album and song titles) is a surprisingly thick, clean production, which is leaps and bounds above the average demo. The Beer Battered, Bacon Wrapped, Deep Fried Burrito blasts through 8 brutal tracks of alternating grind/slam, and then take us out for a night at the club with a couple of sweet DJ remixes on tracks 9 & 10. The material here is very reminiscent of bands like Abominable Putridity, Malodorous, and Disfiguring the Goddess--meaning you can expect lots of full-bore blasting interspersed with thick chunks of Devourment-style heaviness, although they obviously subscribe to the Goratory and Artery Eruption school of humor. In fact, I imagine that Meticulous Despoilment is exactly what Artery Eruption wished they sounded like if they were actually able to play their instruments. The funny thing about bands like this is that their sense of humor often undermines the actual quality of the material, since it's difficult enough to get passed the cover art on most "jokey" grind projects, let alone spend any serious time with the actual songs. The Beer Battered, Bacon Wrapped, Deep Fried Burrito demo beats the genre curve, however, and survives becoming a coaster/doorstop/article of trash by boasting good material, a solid recording, and (thankfully) not having the bass player or whatever draw the album art. I guess if I had to gripe about anything, I might say that the drums sound a bit sterile and I wish there was some way for their Australian accents to shine through shrieks and death growls, but that's just nitpicking. Check 'em out.
